The Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA) has established a new sewerage treatment plant to treat the water entering into Naya Qila; the system was inaugurated by the GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday.

This is part of the commitment made by the Golf Association to treat the water and substantially improve the ecology of the area.

The system has been developed by Eli Cohen and his company, Ayala Water and Ecology, using a Phyto remediation or ‘Natural Biological System’ (NBS), a sustainable natural technology for treating sewage. The NBS is used to purify contaminated water, soil and air, simultaneously. It treats and replenishes water bodies with fresh water and substantially enhances the ecology of the area.

Created of modular treatment compartments that have a combination of biotic and abiotic elements, it is a sustainable system with minimal maintenance and high longevity. The system works at a fraction of the operating costs and maintenance of conventional technologies.

Using the system, the Hyderabad Golf Association has successfully completed the treatment of 3 million litre capacity sewerage in record time.
