Sindhu is the only Indian in the women's singles, as world number two Saina Nehwal is not taking part in this tournament.

In the men's singles, Sai Praneeth, H.S Prannoy and Ajay Jayaram will be battling it out in the second round today.

5th seed Praneeth will be playing Artyom Savatyugin of Uzbekistan, while 7th seed Prannoy will meet Lin Chia Hsuan of Chinese Taipei and 9th seed Jayaram will face Lin Guipu of China.

In the women's doubles section pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwinin Ponappa will also begin their campaign today. (ANI)
