The accused Nakka Bujji (30), Ponnarsa Krishna (25) and Nagula Sreenu alias Avula Sreenu (35) hailing from Aakividu town in West Godavari district, used to get fake gold ornaments and sell them to gullible public at cheaper rates.

The accused Nakka Bujji (30), Ponnarsa Krishna (25) and Nagula Sreenu alias Avula Sreenu (35) hailing from Aakividu town in West Godavari district, used to get fake gold ornaments and sell them to gullible public at cheaper rates.

Recently R Saidi Reddy of Chaitanyapuri came into contact with the gang leader Mekala Durga Rao alias Vijay through Padma, who runs a curry Point in Reddy’s vicinity.

As per the deal made by Reddy and Durga Rao, the accused brought 60 tolas of gold ornaments and handed it over to Reddy by collecting Rs 4.2 lakh cash and fled from Hyderabad.

Realised that he was cheated, Reddy lodged a complaint with the Kanchanbagh police and gave the phone numbers from which he received calls during the transaction. Santosh Nagar ACP V Sreenivasulu said that the accused were arrested on Thursday with the assistance of South Zone Task Force teams who recovered Rs 3 lakh cash and fake gold ornaments.
