With just four days to go before the proposed closure of Gough Road in Secunderabad Cantonment, the issue of road closure in AOC centre is going to be on top of the agenda in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) meeting to be held on Friday.

J Ramakrishna representing ward V said that all the members were united on the issue and would pass a motion for the postponement of the road closure and prevail upon the Army authorities. The CEO, SCB, Sujatha Gupta met the Chief Secretary, Telangana in regard to the proposed road closure.

Meanwhile, the local Army authorities put up red coloured boards at two different locations, one at swimming pool and the other near Ramakrishnapuram on the closure of roads from December 1.

The public notice cited the High Court order dated September 26, 2014, considering the security arrangements, the general public are informed that the Gough Road shall be closed for the public traffic. However, it also mentioned that emergency vehicles will however be permitted.

Gough Road is at the beginning of the Defence area for those commuting from Ramakrishnapuram from one end and Thirumalgherry from the other end.

Officials from the Army headquarters stated that they met the Chief Secretary of State about their plans. They said that representations made to the GHMC officials to speed up to process of alternative routes are at snail pace and that the State Government has been informed several times about the closure in view of the security reasons.
