AP eyes double digit growth
The State government has set an ambitious target of 15 per cent, a double digit growth rate, for 2016-17 financial year. Disclosing this at a review meeting held here on Saturday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, asked the HoDs to prepare an action plan, to achieve the set target.

Hyderabad: The State government has set an ambitious target of 15 per cent, a double digit growth rate, for 2016-17 financial year. Disclosing this at a review meeting held here on Saturday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, asked the HoDs to prepare an action plan, to achieve the set target.
He also assures to strike a balance between welfare and development measures. Underlining that the State has all the natural resources in abundance, he said, “If the targeted development and growth rate cannot be achieved in AP, then it is not possible to achieve anywhere else in the country.”
The Chief Minister said that building of a new capital is a rare opportunity, and the State has been taking steps to establish ports, airports, road connectivity and other infrastructure development in a big way. The State has been on the top, in providing uninterrupted power supply and there is a considerable progress on industrial front besides witnessing economic activity unlike never before in the history. It was against this backdrop, that it would be possible to achieve the targeted growth rate, he said.
In the brainstorming review meeting held along with his team of Ministers and HoDs, Naidu said that, while achieving the growth rate, to would be inevitable to streamline various institutions. nderlining that the earlier government’s didn’t space out development in a planned manner, Naidu said, “We have a vision document, and for the first time in the country, we have been reviewing the progress of development on quarterly basis.
We have been spending a lot on welfare, but due to lack of proper mechanism in place, we are not able to deliver services and achieve anticipated results. But, the government would give equal priority to development as well as welfare to bring integrated development in all the sectors in the State.
