Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh feels festival will disrupt peace in campus

Hyderabad: The scheduled ‘Beef Festival’ on December 10 at Osmania University has kicked up a row with Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh Lodh approaching the OU Police Station urging them not to allow the festival on the campus.

Singh on Monday said that the festival would destroy a peaceful atmosphere in the university campus. Retaliating to Singh, students of the university lodged a complaint with the OU Police stating that Raja Singh was trying to obstruct the Beef Festival to be held in the University.

In this regard, the students also met Telangana Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to complain against Raja Singh.

The students made it clear that they will organise the Beef Festival at any cost and alleged that the BJP was trying to control the food habits of people.

OU students have been organising Beef Festival for the last few years. In 2012, the beef festival lead to mild tension on the university campus as two pro and anti-groups of the festival clashed over it. Now students and faculty at the University are apprehensive that the schedule festival may spoil the atmosphere on the campus.
