Hyderabad: Migration of senior Congress leaders to TRS appears to be on the cards ahead of the biennial election for 12 seats in Telangana Legislative Council from Local Authorities Constituencies (LACs), GHMC elections and byelection to Narayankhed Assembly constituency in Medak district.

Speculation is rife that TRS is making all-out efforts to rope in senior Congress leader and CLP deputy leader J Geeta Reddy and former minister from Hyderabad Mukesh Goud into the party. TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, it is learnt, had entrusted the party secretary-general K Keshav Rao and special advisor to government D Srinivas, to negotiate with Geeta Reddy and Mukesh Goud. According to sources, both the Congress leaders were feeling neglected in the party.

Geeta Reddy is said to have expressed disenchantment over the functioning of the Congress for giving importance to juniors in the recent times.

She was also angry for keeping her at bay in the just-concluded byelection to the Warangal Lok Sabha seat. TRS sources said ample indications were received from the supporters of Geeta Reddy who was seeking to jump on to the KCR’s bandwagon.

Mukesh is said to have sent signals that he was willing to join the TRS if his son Vikram Goud was given some important post in the GHMC election. The TRS is also making efforts to bring in many second-rung Congress leaders from Medak into the party fold before the GHMC election. Sources said former GHMC mayor Banda Karthika Reddy is also mulling to join the pink party.
