Karimnagar: In a bizarre incident, a person tried to sell both his sons for Rs 1 lakh. Though he reached an agreement with unknown persons few days ago, it came to limelight on Monday night when the villagers alerted the police.

A habitual drinker, Mallesh Goud, resident of Irukulla village of Karimnagar mandal, reached an agreement with unknown persons to sell his sons, Sanjay (10) and Shanthan (8), at Rs 1 lakh and obtained Rs 20,000 as advance. Suspected over the movements of Mallesh, local villagers alerted his second wife, who informed the matter to Karimnagar rural police.

Mallesh, who was engaged in centring works in the construction field, married Latha 16 years ago and were blessed with two sons. The couple used to frequently quarrel. Unable to lead a life with Mallesh, Latha got a divorce from him in the village panchayat six years ago. She left her sons with him unable to take care of them.

Later, Mallesh married another woman, whom he harassed too. Recently, Mallesh met some unknown persons and reached an understanding with them to sell the children at Rs 1 lakh and took Rs 20,000 towards advance. Police took Mallesh into custody and launched investigation by registering a case.
