Bachhannapet (Warangal): Even as a high alert was sounded by the police in the Agency villages infested by Maoists, two letters purportedly written by the Maoists, surfaced at Bachhannapet mandal headquarters in the district on Friday, caused panic.

The letters have created flutter as the annual People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week was being observed from December 2 to 8 in the honour of slain leaders of the CPI (Maoist)'s armed wing.

The police found the two-page letter pinned to a tree near the Backward Classes hostel and another three-page letter was found pasted on the wall at the entrance gate of the hostel during the morning hours. The statement was issued in the name of People’s War Group central committee member Viplav Kumar.

The content in the two statements slightly varied with one another. In one letter, the Maoist leader lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of promoting the MNCs at the cost of the public sector. The Prime Minister was allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) even in the defense sector, which was crucial for the country’s safety. The Prime Minister was also encouraging communal tensions and caste wars, he said.

Launching a blistering attack against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Viplav Kumar alleged that before coming to power, the Chief Minister claimed that Maoist agenda was the TRS agenda. But after coming to power, he was killing the militants in fake encounters, he lamented.

Maoist activists Shruti alias Mahita and Vidysagar Reddy alias Sagar were killed in fake encounters in Tadwai forests in Warangal district in a brutal manner. Shruti was also sexually assaulted and tortured before being killed, he alleged.

‘Is this the ‘Golden Telangana’, that the State government was striving for, he asked. If this happened to any daughter of MLA or MP, the culprits would have been punished severely, he added.

The government, which remained indifferent to the agitations undertaken by ASHA workers, municipal staff and gram sevaks, was providing state-of-the-art vehicles to the police and increased their salaries. It was because the State government wants to use the police to suppress the agitations against it, he pointed out.

In the name of Mission Kakatiya, the State government was making the TRS leaders rich but has forgotten about delivering the election promises, Viplav Kumar alleged. He further asked the youth to join the Maoist ranks to make up for the deaths of slain Maoists.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ambar Kishor Jha has described the Maoist letters as fake. It might be an act by local sympathisers. However, the police have launched a detailed probe into the issue, he added.

It might be noted that this year, the Maoists were commemorating the 15th anniversary of the PLGA and were making serious efforts to make it a success. According to sources, several Maoists entered into the forests of the district from the neighbouring Chhattisgarh and others to organise programmes.
