Girls told to concentrate on career-building
Dr Vemuri Satyavati, member of Krishna District Child Welfare Committee, on Tuesday called upon teenage girls not to fall prey to ‘love like attraction’ and concentrate on career building.
Dr Vemuri Satyavati, member of Krishna District Child Welfare Committee, on Tuesday called upon teenage girls not to fall prey to ‘love like attraction’ and concentrate on career building.
She was the chief guest at National Girl Child Day celebrations at Forum For Child Rights here. Speaking on the occasion, she said that teenage was crucial time for any girl to build future. If girls get diverted by such things as love, a majority of them would end up spoiling their life.
The person who traps into them in love might not support her when she needs it the most. By that time, she would have been a parent without financial support. If girls think of their lover or marriage after completing their education and getting a job, the situation would be entirely in their control, she added.
Dr Satyavati said that increased awareness among children, especially girls on their rights was the need of the hour. She urged girls to go ahead in life with confidence and competitive spirit and attain the desired things to lead a decent life. Instead of settling down for less important things, they should set big goals, she said.
Dr TS Rao, member of CWC, appealed to children to march ahead in life without giving undue importance to petty issues. He asked girls to confront with courage challenges like atrocities, gender discrimination and child marriage.
J Jayaraju, member of CWC, development would only possible with awareness and growth of girls. Young India group representative Neelima administered oath to children that they would volunteer in protecting rights of other children in the Amaravati region.
Balakuteer educational institution correspondent Pichaiah and many others involved with child rights A Ramesh and Jacob Raju also spoke. Child Line 1098, Child Welfare Committee, Young India, Navjeevan Bala Bhavan, SKCV Children Trust, Care, Share Charitable Trust, other groups under the joint aegis of Woman and Child Welfare Department, labour, police, education and other departments organised the event.
