AP weightlifters shine
Andhra Pradesh weight lifters won three gold and one silver medal in the Commonwealth Weight Lifting Championship held in Australia from September 4 to 9.

Brothers from Stuartpuram village of Guntur district won the gold medals and a woman from Vizianagaram won the silver.
In a statement, the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh on Monday announced that Ragala Venkata Rahul of Guntur district created two records and won two gold medals in 85 kg category. “He lifted total weight of 351 kg in clean and jerk and snatch departments and won two gold medals in junior and senior categories,” said the statement.
Meanwhile, Ragala Varun won the gold in the 77 kg category by lifting 269 kg. Both players have been qualified for the Common Wealth games to be held next year. In addition, M Santoshini of Vizianagaram won the silver in 53 kg category by lifting 194 kg.
The Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Sports Minister Kollu Ravindra, Principal Secretary, Sports department L V Subramanyam, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Managing Director P Bangaraju congratulated the winners.
