Faculty training programme held at Bhimavaram

Dr Y Narsimhulu, Vice Chancellor, Rayalaseema University, Bhimavaram said that the State and Central Governments are concentrating on the education reforms.

He inaugurated the faculty development programme on Open Education Resources conducted under the aegis of NIT-Warangal’s E and ICT Academy at SRKR Engineering College in Bhimavaram on Thursday.

The day-long faculty development programme was assisted by electronics and Information Technology Ministry of India. Programme Coordinator Dr M Sivaramabadri Raju presided over the programme.

The Vice-Chancellor Narsimhulu while addressing the faculty said that the IITs of Kharagpur, Mumbai are conducting online classes and journals to the students. He said that the teachers should prepare the student according to the changing scenario and they have to take it as a challenge. He said that the lecturers and teachers should develop
the technology online on their own and extend it to the students. He said that there is a shortage of expert engineering lecturers in the Technological institutions.
NIT-Warangal ICT Academy Chairman Dr DVLN Somayajlu said that so far 142 FDP programmes have been taken up and 6,000 lecturers have been imparted training. He said soon 25 Courses would be started with the cooperation of IIT, Kharagpur.

Dr K Srinivas, National Institute of Education and Planning of Human Resources Ministry, College Principal G Pardhasaradhi Varma and others addressed the inaugural programme. Professors and lecturers of JNTU, Hyderabad, Padmavathi Mahila Universities, and Directors, Deans of various universities of Tamilnadu and Karnataka participated in the programme.
