Pochampalli IKAT Art Mela inaugurated
Mrs Andhra-2017 Gayathri Simhadri, inaugurated the Pochampalli IKAT Art Mela in Pydah Chalamayya Kalyana Mandapam here on Friday. The mela will be continued up to December 21.

Later, addressing the gathering, Gayathri said various apparels, particularly designer fabrics, IKAT silk and cotton sarees were showcased for the fashion connoisseurs in the city. This kind of expos needed to reach out to women looking for well designed handmade cotton, silk wear and exclusive home textile, she added.
“Handlooms are part of an age-old Indian tradition element of Indian culture and rich artistry. Many families are getting livelihood from handloom sector since generations. It is the duty of everyone to help them by purchasing handmade material,” she added.
Pochampalli Handloom Park founder chairman Chikka Krishna said that Pochampalli sarees got recognition across the world, because of their quality and updated designs. Promoting creativity and originality to each design was a result of individual artisan’s creativity, he opined.
He appealed to the people to avail this opportunity to get a variety of designs in the mela.
