Eluru: International Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) West Godavari Committee General Secretary U Venkateswara Rao (UV) alleged that the governments are neglecting the problems of Hamali, Muta and Kalasi workers.

He participated as chief guest in the Hamali, Jattu Karmika Sangham’s Eluru unit 13th annual meeting held at Merchants Chamber Kalyana Mandapam here on Sunday.The Union President Jaggapu Venkataramana presided over the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, UV criticised that the ruling parties had made promises for the welfare of Hamali workers and had ignored the assurances after coming to power. He demanded that the governments enact a comprehensive Act with employment security to the Hamalis. He called upon the workers to agitate for their cause.

IFTU Eluru City unit President Kakarla Appa Rao, General Secretary Badda Venkatrao, Yard Hamali Workers Union Working President Reddy Appala Nayudu, Secretary Yarra Srinu, Kotturu Jute Mill IFTU leaders A Durga Rao, and City Hamali (fertilisers) Association leader D Veeri Nayudu addressed the meeting.
