Ongole: A girl, native of Kagaz Nagar in Telangana, was rescued by the Prakasam district Childline and Government Railway Police at Chirala and shifted to Balasadan for protection on Sunday.

According to Child Welfare Department officials, the girl by name Sravani and age 10 years was spotted at the Chirala Railway Station in a hapless and weeping condition by the local GRP SI Ramireddy and his staff around 1 am on Sunday.

The GR police shifted her to Ongole and informed the local Childline 1098 and HELP NGO for necessary action. The HELP NGO programme officer and paralegal volunteer BV Sagar, Childline representative/ coordinator P Anjaneyulu took the girl into their protection as per the orders of the Child Welfare Committee.

Upon interaction, the girl revealed that her name is Sravani and she is a native of Old Colony in Kagaz Nagar town in the Kumram Bheem district of Telangana. She said that she came to Tirupati along with her parents but missed them in the temple town. She told that she boarded a train to Hyderabad but got down at Chirala with fear.

“The Childline and HELP staff joined her in the Ongole Balasadan as per the orders of the CWC and said that they were trying to establish a contact with Sravani’s parents. Once they reach Ongole and show necessary proof, they would hand the girl over,” said Sagar.
