Vijayawada: Students should take up service activities along with their education, says Janmabhoomi Committee member Koneru Subba Rao.
He inaugurated NSS special camp at Enikepadu village on the outskirts of the city on Thursday. The students of SRR College also participated in the camp. Addressing the event, he asked the students to create awareness on cleanliness, open defecation, drinking water and development. “Nearly 90 per cent of contagious diseases spread from lack of hygiene,” he said.
The college NSS programme coordinator, M Hari Prasad said that the students would meet villagers to create awareness by distributing pamphlets and conducting rallies. “The Swachh Bharat programme would also be conducted with students,” he added. The village secretary, B Srinivasa Rao, college staff and others were also present.
