“Philanthropist and benefactor Malladi Satyalingam Nayakar (MSN) was the first NRI (Non-Resident Indian) who gave everything for the development of education,” said Kakinada City MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao here on Monday.

Participating as the chief guest in the 103rd death anniversary of MNN at the MSN Charities School, the MLA said, “Nowadays all are praising the NRIs for their good deeds and their participation in the development of the motherland. But MSN was the first NRI in India who gave everything to develop the school education which he earned in the Rangoon city in Burma in the early 1900s.”

The MLA further said that he was also the alumnus of MSN High School and recalled the day when he got elected for the first time as an MLA. “I wanted to increase the income of this charity Institution because even though this charity has 1,200 acres of land, many tenants of these farmlands paid very less rent. I corrected the rent system and increased the income of the MSN Charity along with the then endowments minister, Dandu Sivarama Raju, nobody has done it before,” the MLA added.

He assured that he would do everything he can for the development of this educational institution and said that a new stadium would be built soon beside the MSN Charity Degree College. He further informed that the proposal for the construction of a stadium has been approved by the government. In this connection, MLA inaugurated the website for this MSN Charity Educational Institutions (www.msncharities.com).

Later, Vanamadi honoured the winners of district-level poetry competitions held on MSN’s life with a shawl, memento and with an appreciation certificate besides cash award. MSN Charity founder, family member and chairman Malladi Siva Rama Naikar, Executive Officer Balla Neelakantham also spoke in the programme. Teacher Kesari Srinivas hosted the programme with participation of MSN school students.
