Court imprisons 19 persons for drunken driving
The Prakasam district mobile court imprisoned 19 persons and imposed cash fine for another 55 persons on Thursday, for drunken driving and violation of Motor Vehicles Act.

The Ongole traffic police DSP, K Venugopal along with the SIs D Ranganath, K Hanumantha Rao and other constables arrested a total of 74 persons in Ongole for drunken driving and violation of road safety rules, motor vehicles act and presented before the mobile court on Thursday. The judge imposed a fine of Rs 2100 for each person under Section 185 (A) of motor vehicles act and the police collected Rs 1,55,400 from them.
The court also awarded imprisonment for seven days each to the 19 persons who drank above 100 percent of the permitted limit. The Ongole traffic police offered counselling to the remaining people involved in the drunken driving at the traffic police station.
