Kashmiri Dance Festival commenced at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Tuesday evening. Andhra Pradesh Department of Culture created an opportunity to the dance lovers of Vijayawada and surroundings to enjoy the bouquet of Kashmir dance forms. About 12 teams consisting of 170 artistes reached Vijayawada to exhibit their talent.

Vijayawada: Kashmiri Dance Festival commenced at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Tuesday evening. Andhra Pradesh Department of Culture created an opportunity to the dance lovers of Vijayawada and surroundings to enjoy the bouquet of Kashmir dance forms. About 12 teams consisting of 170 artistes reached Vijayawada to exhibit their talent.

The programme commenced with the group of Mastan Ahammad depicting the traditional dance mostly performed by ladies in the marriages of Kashmir. This was followed by another group ‘Cargill Radan Art and Cultural’ showcased another traditional Kashmiri dance portrayed the public expressing their joy during the festivals.

Gogri dance presented by Razia Begum’s troupe, mesmerised the audience. Khud dance by Nagini Club, Pahadi dance by Tarak Paradehsi’s troupe, Mangotri party’s dance illustrating the farewell to winter and other dances were extremely appreciated by the spectators gathered in the auditorium.

Mandali Budha Prasad, Deputy Speaker, AP State Legislative Assembly inaugurated the festival. Dr D Vijaya Bhaskar, Director, Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh and P Hari Krishna were also present on the dais.
