Free heart surgeries for children have been organised at Andhra Hospitals in association with Healing Little Hearts, United Kingdom (UK) team. The hospital children’s services chief Dr PV Rama Rao informed the media here on Friday, that the surgeries started from March 18 and would be continued till March 24.

Vijayawada: Free heart surgeries for children have been organised at Andhra Hospitals in association with Healing Little Hearts, United Kingdom (UK) team. The hospital children’s services chief Dr PV Rama Rao informed the media here on Friday, that the surgeries started from March 18 and would be continued till March 24.

Dr Rao explained that 22 complex cardiac surgeries were held at pediatric cardiac surgical camp successfully. A nine-member team of UK doctors from world famous hospitals like Lady Cilento Children's Hospital, Brisbane, Australia, Alderhey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, UK and Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester had performed complex pediatric cardiac surgeries.

The team include pediatric interventional cardiologist, pediatric cardiac surgeon, pediatric cardiac intensivists, perfusionist, pediatric intensive care nurses which was led by Dr Sanjiv Nichani from UK and Dr Vikram from Andhra Hospitals. The Hospital MD, Dr PV Ramana Murthy said they had organised the 13th camp for children heart surgeries since December 2015 and have successfully performed surgeries to 274 children. Actor Mahesh Babu extended his support for the noble cause, he claimed.

Pediatric cardiac surgeon Prem Venugopal, Dr Nayan Shetty, Dr Gopi, Dr Chellappan Subramanian, Anuradha, Anand Mohan Patil, Julia, Andhra Hospitals cardiac surgeon Dilip, cardiologist Sreemannarayana and cardiac anaesthetist Ramesh were present.
