Officials told to complete airport runway work
East Godavari District Collector Karthikeya Misra has directed the officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the contractors to complete the construction work of the runway by June 10.
Rajamahendravaram: East Godavari District Collector Karthikeya Misra has directed the officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the contractors to complete the construction work of the runway by June 10.
He asked them not to compromise on quality.Participating in the Airport Development Authority (ADA) meeting held at the airport here on Friday, he said that due to tremendous increase in the air traffic the expansion of runway is very important for landing of more flights. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is enquiring about the progress of on going works in the airport and directed to complete as early as possible.
Big crafts also land in the airport after expansion of runway works and many people from two Godavari districts are using the airport and there is a scope for vast development of the airport. Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma is supervising the progress of works from time to time. He also underlined the need to expand develop airport road to meet the increasing traffic.
AIrport Director M Raj Kishore said the number of air passengers has been increasing day by day from the airport and the number of passengers will increase to 10 laklh by next year. Steps were taken to operate flights to Shirdi, Tirupathi, New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata from Rajamahendravaram as many people are asking to run flights to these cities.
Sub-Collector Saikanth Varma, Municipal Commissioner Sumit Kumar Gandhi, SK Infra managing director R Gopala Krishna, chairman R Subba Raju, Airport officer AS Mahesh and others were present.
