Rajiv Gandhi remembered
Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was the first to introduce Information and Technology in the country and brought many reforms for the development of the country, said City Congress president Akula Srinivas here on Monday.
Vijayawada: Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was the first to introduce Information and Technology in the country and brought many reforms for the development of the country, said City Congress president Akula Srinivas here on Monday.
Paying rich tributes to the late prime minister in connection with his 27th death anniversary, Srinivas said that Rajiv Gandhi had given preference to public information, infrastructure and innovation. He felt that telecommunication services was an important factor in India's development. Gandhi allowed the import of fully assembled motherboards and paving way for the information technology during his regime, he added.
Senior Congress leader Kolanukonda Sivaji said that Rajiv Gandhi was a bold and dynamic Prime Minister of all time. He along with other party members garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Rajiv Gandhi Park here.
Congress leaders N Narsimha Rao, Nimmala Jyothika, Royal Kiran, Lam Jaibabu, Rajiv Ratan, N Nageswara Rao, P Chantibabu and others were present.
