Guntur: AITUC leaders protested against police firing in Thuthukodi of Tamil Nadu in which twelve persons were killed and hundreds of agitators were injured.

The agitators felt that police firing on anti-Sterlite agitators was not correct.

Addressing the gathering, the AITUC district general secretary, V Radhika Krishna said that Sterlite company was running plant without permission in Tamil Nadu.

He alleged that this plant would pollute air, water and environment.

He said that while the agitators were protesting peacefully against the plant, the police opened fire on agitators and resorted to lathi-charge and injured over one hundred.
