Ongole: Prakasam District Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand ordered the authorities to prepare a detailed action plan to develop the Bhairavakona as an environmental education and development hub and a major tourist attraction in the district.

Vinay Chand visited the ancient Bhairavakona temple in CS Puram mandal on Thursday morning and inspected the waterfalls, temple and surrounding areas to identify the places for the provision of various facilities.

He interacted with the locals and officials to know about the facilities required near the temple. He ordered the officials to remove large boulder beside the waterfalls to make space for the devotees and tourists.

He ordered them to construct four check-dams to save water in the monsoon and develop lawn and plantations in the area. He also asked them to construct a bus shelter and Haritha Hotel for the facility of the tourists.

As the tourists and devotees throng Bhaiaravakona for Maha Sivaratri, the Collector ordered the officials to construct 80 bathrooms for men and women along with the facilities to change the dress at waterfalls.

He also ordered them to construct a large platform at the temple to help the devotees do puja. He ordered the concerned to mark the 75 acres of forest land assigned to the Bhairavakona temple for developing it as a tourist attraction.

He ordered that the road from Kothapalle to Bhairavakona should be lit up with LED lights and widened as a two-lane road. He asked the police to set up a police post at the Bhairavakona to restrict any illegal activities and run buses from Kanigiri to Sitaramapuram via Bhairavakona every morning and evening.

He said that the Bhaiarvakona temple would be given a facelift in 4 to 5 months as a major tourist attraction.

The Kandukur RDO Mallikharjuna, tourism development officer Nagabhushanam, DRDA and DWMA PDs Murali and Polappa, DPO SSSV Prasad, Giddalur DFO YS Nayudu and other officials also participated in the tour with the Collector.
