Bhimavaram: A student of SRKR Engineering College here has developed a service robot which receives commands from cell phone.

Studying in third year mechanical engineering, Maturi Mahendra Gupta announced that he designed the robot at a minimum cost of Rs 3,000.

The inventor informed that the robot functions on Arduino technology with Bluetooth and 12-volt battery.

It serves snacks within a radius of 10 metres by receiving signals from Bluetooth. The body was built with locally available wood and wrapped with cloth to look attractive.

A cardboard tray on the top of the robot accommodates snacks during functions such as marriage and birthdays.

Gupta said that the robot would also help in delivering objects in workshops. He said that he had developed the robot to make it useful to others.

He informed that two second year students hails from Nepal, Rakesh and Rajan Patel also helped him in formulating coding to the robot.

The college faculty and students appreciated Gupta for his invention.
