Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council deputy chairman Reddy Subramanyam has said that the state government is giving priority for the welfare of students and is trying to bring them out from strain and stress.

Inaugurating mid-day meals scheme at PR junior college here on Thursday, he said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu introduced the mid-day meals scheme to junior college students also for their benefit.

Here after, the students of far off places need not carry lunch boxes, he added.

Directions were issued to respective officials to supply quality and tasty food to the students. Lakhs of Intermediate students in the state were benefitted with mid-day meals scheme and the government took it as a prestigious programme.

Respective college principals should monitor the distribution of food every day. Any lapses in this regard will be viewed seriously, he said.

There was no dearth of funds to run mid-day meal scheme, he added.

City MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao said many students in the junior colleges were facing problems for carrying lunch boxes.

To study without any tension, the students should concentrate on study well as the government was taking care of their lunch.
