Amaravati: The State government is gearing up to expedite the Gram Panchayat LED street lighting programme across the State which enables substantial energy savings and also ensure financial benefit to the panchayats.

The Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has been given a daily installation target of 1,000 lights per day from December 1 to December 15 and thereafter, 6,000 lights per day from December 16.

Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh suggested to the energy department that world-class technologies in Centralised Control Monitoring System (CCMS) be adopted in rural LED street lighting project.

He also directed the department to complete the erection of third wire on a war footing in all panchayats, which was essential for installation of the CCMS and completion of the project.

“The programme should be linked with the Chief Minister’s Dash Board and Minister’s Dash Board for effective monitoring of the working of the installed LED street lights.

Any pre-Installation issues in the gram panchayats such as erection of third wire and line clearance must be addressed by both the Panchayat Raj and Energy Departments one week before the commencement of the installation of lights and help the installing agency to complete the entire gram panchayat in a single go,” he directed officials during a teleconference on Sunday.
