Vijayawada: The AP government has appointed senior journalist V Vasudeva Deekshithulu as Chairman of the state Press Academy.

State Information Commission ex-officio secretary P Krishna Mohan said in a statement that Deekshithulu would take charge immediately and continue to hold the position for 2 years.

Vasudeva Deekshithulu started his journalistic career in the year 1967 in Andhra Jyothi news daily as apprentice sub-editor and was trained by late Panditharadhyula Nageswara Rao.

He was elevated to the position of Deputy Editor in 1988 and Executive Editor in 1990.

He later took over as the Editor in 1991 and left his mark in all spheres of newspaper writing. He was honored by Telugu University for his outstanding contribution towards the field of Journalism and was felicitated by the Madras Telugu Academy with Khasa Subba Rao Award.
