Hyderabad: The State governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are all set to discuss a plan to lay a four-lane road between Hyderabad and Kurnool to form an Industrial Hub. This would be further extended via Chitradurga upto Pune, for free movement of goods to access the sea port at Mumbai.

According to sources, "The plan will bring Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on board as to realise the proposed move needed for developing areas falling in both the States, besides Karnataka." At present the route from Pune to Hyderabad is not that feasible for speedy transportation of goods, and "if the industrial hub plan between Kurnool - Hyderabad is developed then it would benefit both the States," said a senior official from the State Planning Department.

The proposed move was to access the existing markets accessible to both the Telugu-speaking States. In addition to this, another plan is in the offing to develop Amravati – Hyderabad road link with four-lane, and also Machilipatnam - Amaravati link with another four-lane road.

This whole planning would make both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, to access on one hand the Machilipatnam Port, and on the other, the Mumbai port. This would help the proposed industrial hubs in both the States to export goods through sea route.

Also, proposals were approved to lay four-lane and six-lane road connectivity to the hinterlands in the Chittoor district. This was to develop connectivity to Krishnapatnam - Bangalore, via Naidupet. All these are short-term projects with time-bound action plans, if completed, then Telangana would benefit in exporting its goods via Kurnool, Chitradurga, Pune and Mumbai route, as well as Hyderabad-Machilipatnam route.

Similarly, AP’s new capital Amaravati will have access to Hyderabad-Pune and Mumbai, via Kurnool and Chitradurga. Also, Amaravati-Machilipatnam, Amravati-Kadapa-Kurnool-Anantapur and Bangalore corridor.
