Peddapadu will be developed as model village
Peddapadu which is symbol of inspiration provided by former Chief Minister Damodaram Sanjivayya will be developed as model village in the State, Collector Ch Vijaymohan said here on Friday.

Speaking to the media, he said several programme were being taken up in connection with Sanjivayya’s birth anniversary on February 14. They include a rally by students and representative of the NGOs, besides people, to Sanjivayya Vedika near Nandyal Road Check post, presentation of prizes to winners of essay-writing competitions on his life, besides distribution of assets to beneficiaries.
The Collector stated that CC roads would be laid in Peddapadu at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Underground drainage would be provided; tree plantation taken up on road-side and basic infrastructure provided in four schools. Facilities in SW hostels would be improved and village youth trained for shining in various sectors.
Vijaymohan thanked farmers for handing their lands for the Handri-Neeva canal works. He said farmers would provide their lands by the month-end for the new airport.
Addressing an awareness meeting on viral and bacterial infections, he called for educating people about infections hitting pregnant women and children in rural areas. At the meeting ANMs were told about steps to check Zika virus.
