Hyderabad: YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to speed up the process of granting special status to the State, which has been pending since June 2014. He along with his party MPs called on the Union Minister at the latter’s office in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the YSRCP leader said that he brought to the notice of Rajnath Singh the delay in according special status to State, which hampered the growth. Jagan also requested the Home Minister to order probe into violence at Tuni during the agitation for BC status to Kapu community and corruption charges against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s government.

He said that pending Polavaram project and the State government’s failure to set up Tribes Advisory Board, steel plant at Kadapa, Railway Zone at Visakhapatnam along with Petrochemical complex was also discussed in the meeting.

“The Telangana government going ahead with the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project without proper approval was also brought to the notice of the Centre as it would badly affect the Rayalaseema and southern district of the State,” the YSRCP leader added.
