Chittoor: State Brahmin Samaj Committee president C V Subba Rao condemned the derogatory statement made by National Urdu University Prof. Kancha Ilaiah against Brahmins.

He reportedly stated that Brahmins are lazy and spend their time only for eating and sleeping at a function in Vijayawada on Friday. He
also made unsavoury remarks on Lord Krishna, Sri Rama and other Hindu Gods with baseless assertions and attributions. Widespread
resentment has been witnessing in the State among the Brahmins over the baseless allegations and attributions on the Vedas and Hindu
Gods.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Subba Rao recalled that Brahmins never showed caste discrimination. There are so many
Brahmins in Andhra Pradesh whose principal avocation is still agriculture. “As far I am concerned, I used to plough my fields and spend
more than 15 hours per day in the field. Ignoring the facts, the Professor has made sheer baseless criticism against Brahmins in order to
prove his caste discrimination,” he pointed out.

Subba Rao appealed to Brahmins to maintain restraint. Meanwhile, Chittoor Brahmina Seva Samithi condemned the statement of the
Professor and urged the Brahmins in the State to wear black badges on Monday and attend their daily duties as a protest against the
Professor’s statement.
