Ongole: The Bharatiya Janata Party will strengthen its cadre base in Andhra Pradesh, said MLC Somu Veerraju here on Tuesday. Veerraju said, “We are organising seven Vikas Parv meetings in Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Nellore, Anantapur and Tirupati. The meetings at Rajahmundry and Kakinada are scheduled for June 4 and 5.

Party seniors and senior ministers like Ram Kripal Yadav, Saroj Pandey and Dharmendra Pradhan will take part in meetings. “On June 17, BJP national president Amit Shah will address a public meeting in Visakhapatnam. Amit Shah is very keen on strengthening the party in Andhra Pradesh by 2019 and asked us to enroll at least 100 active party workers under each of the 45,000 polling booths in the State.

We have already started about 500 to 1,000 village branches in each district and already trained about 40,000 active workers in the State on the Central schemes,” Veerraju said. He said that his partymen would regularly monitor the implementation of the Central government schemes in the State and popularise them among the common public and encourage them to become beneficiaries under those schemes.

The MLC also said that the State unit of the BJP will definitely convince the Central government to announce a separate railway zone at Visakhapatnam. He extended his support to the proposal of the TDP that Bharat Ratna should be conferred on the party founder and former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao.
