Kapu supremo Mudragada Padmanabham who launched an indefinite hunger strike demanding the release of those arrested in connection with the Ratnachal Express burning case in Tuni along with the implementation of reservations to his community resisted the police who came to arrest him.

Mudragada was armed with an insecticide bottle and warned the police to go back or he would consume the contents. The Kapu leader further asked the police to send the CID who prepared a case against him if they had to go through with the arrest. If police barge into his house by breaking open the closed doors, Mudragada said that he would consume the contents of the insecticide bottle.

The police who managed to get through to the Kapu leader's residence amidst thousands of supporters were not able to take further action after listening to his threats.
