Visakhapatnam: In a bid to provide more comfort to the visiting pilgrims and draw more from foreign countries, the State government has drawn up a master plan to develop famous hill shrine Simhachalam with good amenities and infrastructure at a cost of Rs 162 crore.

With the new facilities, around 1 crore pilgrims can also be accommodated on the hill shrine.HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, after performing puja along with Collector Dr N Yuvaraj, GVMC Commissioner Praveen Kumar on Sunday, reviewed the master plan prepared by the Simhachalam temple authorities.

Later talking to the reporters, the Minister said the temple and surroundings will be developed in four phases. As part of the plan, five zones will be developed and put on the public domain from next week onwards for 15 days to take suggestions, objections and feedback from public.

Changes to the master plan will be made according to the suggestions from the public and a final draft will be released, the Minister said.

Five zones include Hilltop around the shrine, Adavivaram, Pushkarini, temple foothill and Sunday Market.
The temple has medicinal plants and lot of greenery and yet landscaping would be taken up in a massive way to create proper ambience on the hill top.

The temple is receiving around 40 lakh pilgrims annually and after the master plan is put into place, the temple can accommodate at least 1 crore.
