With Kinnerasani project receiving abundant inflows, the dam officials lifted six of the 12 gates to the height of six feet and releasing 35,000 cusecs of floodwaters. It may be mentioned here that the current water level in the dam is 401 feet while the full reservoir level is 407 feet.

The temple precincts of Bhadrachalam remained water logged with the heavy downpour. Devotees visiting Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple had a tough time as they had to wade through the water-logged Mada streets.

Meanwhile, the Godavari river level at Bhadrachalam rose to 16.8 feet by 7.30 pm, according to CWC officials. Though, there was no immediate danger, the district administration alerted the sectorial officials with heavy to very heavy rains forecast for the next 24 hours.
Of the total 41 mandals in the district, only Kusumanchi, Garla, Bayyaram and Wajedu have received normal rainfall while all other mandals have witnessed excess precipitation compared to normal rainfall at this point of time.

Four mandals - Mulkalapalli (162 mm), Burgampadu (126 mm), Bhadrachalam (106.2 mm) and Paloncha (101.2 mm) – received highest rainfall in the last 24 hours.As many as 30 tribal houses in Kammarigudem under Velairpadu mandal (West Godavari) marooned in the floodwaters when the Irrigation officials opened three crust gates of the Peddavagu medium irrigation project at Gummadipalli under Aswaraopet mandal. It may be mentioned here that the project reached the full reservoir level a couple of days ago following incessant rains in the region.

Meanwhile, the administration is trying to rescue Varsa Veeramma of Gondigudem under Aswapuram mandal, who stuck in the floodwaters of Isukavagu near Bondigudem village. Her 20 sheep reportedly washed away in the floodwaters.Luckily no one was hurt when a tamarind tree collapsed in the Girls High School of Cherla. With all 25 crest gates are left open due to modernisation works of the Taliperu project, a huge volume of floodwater is draining down Godavari river near Cherla.

Meanwhile, coal production has been affected in the open cast mines of Kothagudem, Manuguru and Sathupalli due to rains.
