Cyanide found in Swarna Bar victims bodies
The Swarna Bar case in which six persons lost their lives after consuming liquor in Vijayawada on December 7 last year has taken a new twist as the Forensic Sciences Laboratory at Hyderabad in its report confirmed that extracts of cyanide along with ethyl alcohol were detected in the bodies of the six victims.

The Forensic Sciences Laboratory at Hyderabad, which submitted its report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Vijayawada after the examination of the bodies of the six deceased persons, said that the cyanide was found in the bodies.
It may be recalled that about 31 persons fell sick on December 7, after consuming Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Swarna Bar, owned by former MLA Malladi Vishnu. The bar was illegally run in the cellar of a hotel, located close to the National Highway.
The victims, who complained of vomiting and giddiness, were rushed to a hospital where five persons Narsa Gopi (55), Madasa Basava Bharata Venkata Nancharaiah (67), Meesala Mahesh (40), Akula Vijay Kumar (41) and Munagala Sunkara Rao (60), died while undergoing treatment.
The FSL in its report stated: “Cyanide was detected in stomach, liver, kidney, blood, brain and lungs of the deceased persons. Contents of ethyl alcohol were also traced in the above parts, except in the traces of sample salt of water collected from the bodies.”
