A senior officer of the Eastern Naval Command said as per the plan 22 persons mostly technical staff of the NAD were to board the aircraft but it is not known how many were left behind as top priority was given to the equipment. There were eight civilians from NAD whose boarding was confirmed.

The officials gave a few names which include chargeman Samba Murthy, fitters Prasad Babu, Nagendra Rao, Senapati, Maharana and multitask staff-Srinivasa Rao and Chinna Rao.

Upon hearing the news, MLA of Visakhapatnam North PVGR Naidu visited two families and consoled them. Senior police officials are trying to get the exact number of people who boarded the ill-fated aircraft.
