Chittoor: Andhra Pradesh Contributory Pension Scheme (APCPS) Employees Association took out a bike rally from Gandhi Statue to the Collectorate, here on Wednesday protesting against the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). The employees working in various government departments took part in the rally.

Addressing the employees, APCPS Employees Association district president N Babu stated that the Supreme Court (SC), in its verdict, directed the State governments to continue old pension scheme as pension and gratuity are the fundamental rights of the employees. He slammed the then State government for implementing the CPS for those employees, who have joined services from 2013 onwards diluting the spirit of SC verdict. “Employees cannot lead a happy life after retirement with the CPS,” he added. Babu said 79 employees, who were under the CPS, have died and their family members have received meagre benefits. He demanded that the government should restore old pension scheme for employees, who have joined services from 2013 onwards.

The CPS Employees Association District Treasurer K Sameer said that there was no social security for the employees with the new pension scheme. Later, the leaders have submitted a memorandum to District Collector Siddharth Jain and urged him to impress upon the government for continuing the old pension scheme.

Union leaders Charan, Lakshminarayana, Mohan, Latha, Madhavi, Lokesh Babu, Mallikarjun, Narasimhulu, Rajesh and others were present.
