Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy was all praise for Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for keeping his promises made to the district.

He said the TDP government is taking up various development works to develop the district. He unfurled the tricolour during the 70th Independence Day Celebrations at parade grounds here on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, Krishna Murthy said unemployment problem in the district would be resolved soon with many industries set to open their shops. He said the government is giving top priority to agriculture sector.

He informed that the government distributed 50,000 quintals of seeds to farmers on subsidy in Kharif, which has put Rs 12.57 crore burden on the State exchequer.

He said that the government had waived loans worth Rs 939 crore of 4.3 lakh farmers. He informed that the farmers availed bank loans to the tune of Rs 2,225 crore in the district. He said the government is supplying seven hours free power supply for the benefit of farmers.

Krishna Murthy said that the government is according top priority to irrigation projects in the State. He said the government has taken up desiltation works in 900 ponds across the district under Neeru-Chettu programme.

He said that check dams were constructed to make the district drought-free. He informed that 43,000 soak pits were dug at residential areas.

He said that Chandranna Bima Yojana would come into effect from Independence Day for the benefit of labourers, who have to pay a very nominal premium for an insured sum of Rs 5 lakh.

The Deputy Chief Minister said pension was enhanced for the old, widows and physically challenged. He said the government is spending Rs 34 crore towards pension disbursement for 3.1 lakh pensioners every month.

He said the government had launched Mee Intiki Mee Bhoomi programme in order to maintain transparency in Revenue sector. He said 6.4 lakh pattadar holders were given Adangal 1B and 37,000 farmers received e-pattadar passbooks.

Ealier, he took salute at the Independence Day parade. Tableaux depicting government departments were taken out on the occasion.
He also gave away commendation certificates to 352 officers from various departments in the district.

Collector Ch Vijay Mohan and SP Ake Ravi Krishna were also present.
