Chittoor: The newly constructed District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) building is yet to become functional as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had agreed to inaugurate it on the request of its Chairman Amasa Rajasekhar Reddy eight months ago.

The DCCB new building was constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore and NTR statue erected in building premises with Rs 4.5 lakh. The Chief Minister reportedly did not inaugurate the new building even though he visited the district on several occasions and participated in TDP Mahanadu for three days at Tirupati. It is learnt that the Chief Minister was not showing interest to inaugurate the building and the NTR Statue due to political reasons.

The DCCB Chairman was staunch loyalist of former Chief Ministers YS Rajasekhara Reddy and N Kiran Kumar Reddy. After TDP came to power, the local party leaders made vain bid to remove Amasa from chairman’s post. However, the Chief Minister had allowed him to continue in his post as he has been striving hard for bank development.

Meanwhile, several TDP district leaders have made an appeal to the DCCB Chairman to join the TDP and continue in his post. Reddy reportedly made it clear that he is against defections.

According to the TDP sources, the Chief Minister may not inaugurate the DCCB building in near future as he is busy with the construction of capital city Amaravati.

Speaking to The Hans India, Rajasekhar Reddy stated that he has been making relentless efforts through Chittoor MLA DK Satyaprabha and other TDP leaders to impress upon the Chief Minister for inaugurating the building and NTR Statue. He exuded confidence that the Chief Minister would inaugurate the building and statue soon.
