Visakhapatnam: Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on a grand scale in educational institutions and in various temples of Sri Krishna here on Thursday.Hare Krishna Movement (HKM) organised Sri Krishna Janmastami at Alwardas Grounds, MVP Colony, where a special mandapam was built with 108 steps to enable the devotees chanting Hare Krishna Mantra for 108 times while climbing the steps.

A large number of devotees witnessed the grand event and cultural events were also organised on the occasion.
Krishnashtami was also celebrated at Visakha Sri Sarada Peetham on Thursday and a large number of devotees had the darshan of Lord Krishna.

Seer Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi Maha Swami who was presently on Chaaturmasa Deeksha at Rishikesh also performed special puja to the Lord along with his disciples in the River Ganges.The Sea Bird Play School and Sri Krishna Vidya Mandir also celebrated Sri Krishnashtami festival where the children dressed as littles Krishnas and gopikas.
