Tirupati: The sudden decision of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan to hold a public meeting here on Saturday has raised several questions.
Political circles and fans of the actor-turned-politician are wondering whether the Tirupati meeting would mark the beginning of Pawan Kalyan entering into active politics. Pawan’s followers are expecting that the Jana Sena leader would give a direction to the party and announce a route map for future action.
But it is still not clear whether Pawan would talk about special category status to Andhra Pradesh. If so whom would he attack? Will he blame the Centre for trying to evade the special status or will he blame the TDP government or will he attack both the TDP and the Centre is the big question.
It would also be interesting to see what stand Pawan would take on the issue of Polavaram project. The main question before Pawan’s fans is will he take an aggressive stand and if so against whom.
Talking to The Hans India, his fans said that Pawan has been holding meetings with a few intellectuals but was keeping cards close to his chest.
It may be mentioned here that ever since Pawan announced launching of Jana Sena Party, he had only held two public meetings and once he visited Tulluru area where the state government had gone in for land pooling for the capital city and interacted with the farmers there.
Great expectations are being raised over the Tirupati meeting as all political parties attach great significance for meetings at Tirupati. According to sources, the only speaker at the Indira Maidanam would be Pawan Kalyan where nearly 10,000 people are likely to attend.
Pawan Kalyan, who arrived here on Thursday to console the family of his fan and Jana Sena activist Vinod Kumar, had a series of meetings with the prominent leaders of his fans associations in the guest house at Tirumala. During the meetings, Pawan was told by his followers that his fans were emotionally upset following the murder of Vinod and they need to be given a new direction. He was also told that they were looking forward for a political direction.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that Tirupati Urban SP contacted the actor after the party decided to hold the public meeting in Indira Maidanam to inform that the police are not in a position to provide a full-fledged security for the gathering as it was decided at short notice. The actor assured that his fans and followers will act as volunteers for the peaceful conduct of the meeting, it is learnt.
