Vizianagaram: Horticulture department deputy director PNV Lakshminarayana warned the mango farmers not to believe certain people who profess to do whip grafting (antu kattuta) of mango trees at exorbitant prices. Instead, he advised that the department was on the job.

Lakshminarayana said that grafting of mango trees of above 20-25 years of age with diminishing yielding capacity would be done by the department officials. He said that the varieties of mango for which the demand in the market is less would be replaced with prominent varieties. With this new technique of grafting, within 2 or 3 years, the yield could be expected, he said.

For more details on this, people may contact mandal multipurpose extension officers or Horticulture officials, Lakshminaryana said.
