Saileswari’s concert began with a traditional Aditala Varnam in Sahana ragam which was followed by Deekshitar composition ‘Sri Mahaganapatini’ in Goula ragam. Ramadasu’s composition ‘Yennaganu Rama Bhajana’ in Pantuvarali ragam, ‘Aada modi galada’ keerthana in Charukesi ragam, a beautiful composition of saint Thyagarajaswamy followed.

Saileswari chose a composition of Thyagaraja swami ‘Chakkani Rajamargamu’ complementing it with fine alapana and swara kalpana. She presented an enchanting raga version before rendering this kirtana with perfect sruti alignment. Saileswari was excellently supported on the violin by BV Durgabhavani, a staff artiste of Akashvani and her solo versions of the ragas were melodious.

The slow phrases in the lower and middle octaves and the brigas that followed were marked with prerfect sruti alignment. Another major item was the sumptuously presented Keeravani kitana of Thyagaraja Kaligi yunte Kada with excellent and elaborate alapana and sparkling kalpana swaras. Percussion support came from B Suredh Babu on mridangam, and I Anjaneya sastry on ghatam. The tani the two artistes presented at the end of the pallavi was delightful and carried intricate laya patterns.

The programme was organised by KS Govindarajan, Principal, Music college Another vocal concert of M Swarna of Hyderabad was organised by Swara Tarangini at Siva Rama Krishna Kshetram (Rama Koti) on Sunday evening. Swarna commenced the concert with the composition of Thyagaraja swamy’s ‘Ninne bhajana’ in Nata ragam. She has rendered the keerthanas with her rich melodious voice and command on music.

She continued the concert with Thyagaraja swamy keerthanas ‘Sadhimchene’ in arabhi ragam, ‘Aparadhamu Maanpi’ in Darbar ragam, ‘Ninnadanela’ in Kanada ragam, Syama Sastry’s composition ‘Sarojadala neetri’ in Sankarabharana ragam. She also sang the Javali in Purvikalyani ragam and Lalgudi Jayaraman’s Thillana. Admirable instrumental support was rendered by J Chandramouli on violin, I Pinakapani on mridangam, M Haribabu on ghatam and TL Sankar on morsing.
