Tirupati: The World Tourism Day was celebrated here on Tuesday. Marking the occasion, 2K Run was organised from Ramanuja Circle to Shilaparamam and in the evening a meeting was held to emphasis on accessible tourism for all.
Tirupati Sub-Collector Himamsu Sukla, who flagged off the 2K Run, in which students of Indian Culinary Institute (ICI) and others participated, stressed on creation of an environment that can cater to the needs of tourists to boost tourism for economic development.
He said Tirupati International Airport bagged this year award for tourist friendly and beautification. Sukla said plans are to afoot to promote tourism in a big way in the district.
