Speaking at a meeting organised by the Department of Women and Child Welfare here on Wednesday, the Chairperson said that there was no security for school and college-going girl children and called upon the family elders to make aware of their kids about  family relations from the childhood itself. 

Visakhapatnam: Lamenting on the spurt of rape cases, Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapuneni Rajakumari alleged that both lawyers and the police were making settlements in most of the rape cases suppressing the truth causing injustice to the victim families.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Department of Women and Child Welfare here on Wednesday, the Chairperson said that there was no security for school and college-going girl children and called upon the family elders to make aware of their kids about family relations from the childhood itself.

She said since assumption of charge as Chairperson, she has been visiting all districts and conducting awareness meetings on the rights of women and children, Anti-Dowry Act, sex determination, sexual harassment at work spots and domestic violence.Zilla Praja Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani felt where the womenfolk was respected, the society would be developed and called upon the women to move with determination and courage.

Mahila Commission Members M Mani Kumari and K Srivani, MLA Vangalapudi Anitha, Joint Collector-2 D V Reddy, Commission Director Suyaj and District Legal Services Authority Secretary Justice R V Nagasundar also spoke.
