Visakhapatnam: The police force has the onerous responsibility of protecting and safeguarding general public and society as well, observed Inspector General of Police (IG) of Meghalaya State and the alumni of Andhra University G Hari Prasad Raju.

Sharing his experiences when he was the student of AU and to bring awareness on how to face Civil Services among the students of Department of Commerce and Management, AU here on Wednesday, Hari Prasad Raju said that there is nothing difficult to achieve anything in life provided one should have self-discipline and commitment.He called upon the youth power to be ‘ever ready’ to face challenges in life and to cultivate the habit of expressing inner ideas openly.

Expressing his indebtedness to the great teachers of Andhra University, the Inspector General of Police said that the varsity has given a good opportunity to all the students to compete and to grow in life by achieving academic targets.

However, the students must transform the teaching techniques and the available academic facilities on the campus in such a way to fetch them in life to grow, he added. About the passion for appearing Civil Services, he said to achieve the target of securing Civil Services is not a difficult task at all provided one should work hard.

I used to spend every minute of leisure time in studying magazines and general knowledge books when I was the student here and thus I had transformed my hard work to achieve my target of Civil Services’, he explained. ‘I always consider it our responsibility to serve the public at the time of natural calamities or in times of need’, the IG said.

Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao asked the students to take the inspiration of personalities like Hari Prasad to grow in life and to imbibe individuality, self-discipline, commitment and social values as the students’ behavior will have a direct influence on the university.
