New Delhi: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitaraman, said here on Monday that the Centre was speeding up work on the projects earmarked or announced for AP in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Refuting allegations of neglect on Centre's part, the Minister said on Monday that work was apace in establishing the pending institutions like the IIFT (Indian Institute of Food Technology), IIP (Indian Institute of Packaging) and NID (National Institute of Design) and foundation stones for the campuses would be laid soon.

Referring to the the DPR (Detailed Project Report) on Visakha-Chennai Industrial Corridor, she said it has been completed and the Centre was in possession of the report.

The study undertaken by ADB (Asian Development Bank) took two years to be completed. Though the Centre could place the report in public domain, it was more important to speed up the process of establishing the corridor's work, she said.

IIFT and IIP would also come up at Kakinada Export Zone at the earliest as the State government had already allotted land to these, she added.

The Minister was speaking to Telugu media after launching a new enhanced Dashboard on Foreign Trade Data here.

The Dashboard is meant to provide easy access to the public with regard to India’s export, import and balance of trade data in an analytical format, over time and space.

The Minister said this Dashboard is an improved version of the earlier EXIM Analytics Dashboard developed with many added features. It is more user-friendly and would facilitate the general public to have an accurate picture on dynamics of foreign trade performance of India, a government press release said later.

The new Dashboard gives a graphical collection of exports, imports and balance of trade of India; e.g., the Export turnover of the country how it performs over time and space? What are the export destinations? What items are being exported? Which are the ports inland, sea or airports from which the exports are taking place? The new interface is broadly divided into Exports, Imports and Balance of Trade views.

Each of these views provide the user with features to inspect the trade that happens between India and a particular country, zoom into the activities of a particular port and reflect trade pattern over any months of the user's choice, according to the PIB release.
