Vijayawada: In his most controversial outburst by far against the opposition, particularly the YSR Congress, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday sought to equate the opposition parties with "terrorists".

"They are trying to block every development project in the state. Now, you should think if there is any difference between them and the terrorists," Chandrababu said, attacking the YSR Congress without taking its name.

The Chief Minister's outburst came during a public meeting in Kakinada this evening.

"Since you all are happy and I will get a good name for it, some (opposition leaders) are behaving like maniacs.

"They tried to stall the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme, they opposed the Polavaram project, the (state's) new capital, Bhogapuram airport," Naidu said.

"Even yesterday, they opposed the aqua food park coming up in West Godavari district and tomorrow they will oppose the Purushottapatnam lift irrigation scheme," the Chief Minister said.

"Where are they going, I am asking. Is there any difference between them and terrorists?" he said.

The CM also alleged that YSRC was trying to create a rift between various castes in the state.

"During my first term as Chief Minister (of united AP), I dealt very firmly with terrorists and naxalites. I ensured religious harmony in Hyderabad city that was once constantly under curfew. My firm actions led to an attack on my life but only Lord Venkateswara saved me as he destined me to do more good to the state," Chandrababu said.
